Designer - Builder - Visionary

Crafting related businesses together is a consistent path Mr. Schutz chose. Starting in 1979 as Quiet Valley Building Company focused primarily on low rise commercial projects. In 1981 Montecito Millwork was established to complete commercial case goods and hospital furniture for in house projects and for other contractors. In 1988 a kitchen design center was opened, selling imported SieMatic Kitchens and upscale appliances. Over time each business vertically integrated, provided a base for testing ideas and hiring great people. In 2010-12 Mr. Schutz served as the Southern CA Educational Chair for NARI and tasked with developing and managing training for Southern CA contractors recently adopted the EPA/RRP lead safety training program. Through this experience Mr. Schutz learned firsthand a Saturday course with lunch was inadequate training for this important topic. In 2013 Mr. Schutz created Joy Above Software LLC to develop mobile web app sites to help onsite workers an always available mobile resource

Joy-Above Software, LLC 2013 - Present

Developing software helping contractors comply with Federal and State regulations. The focus of our efforts is creation of applications requiring only a little effort to learn and use. We’re planning a broad range of these applications, from accounting reporting through to development of a supervisory savant aiding the consolidation of office management.

For over 35 years Quiet Valley has steadily produced quality projects throughout Southern California. From concept creation to project completion Quiet Valley’s record of customer satisfaction assured clients they made the right choice. Their reward was a lasting project characterizing their hopes and expectations. Our work remains as an outstanding asset for all those owning the properties we built.


KITCHEN DESIGNER

Towne Center Kitchens 1987-1990

From inspection our gallery located in Historic Pasadena was a trend setter. The SieMatic Kitchen and Styles collection from Germany were showcased widely in our vignettes. Besides award winning kitchen design our sales services included the latest in kitchen appliances and hardware. Montecito Millwork’s custom line additionally was added as an outstanding companion to our imported lines.

Throughout its history this enterprise completed some of the Southlands finest millwork projects. From historic restoration to hospital furniture. Our projects ranged from public buildings to the finest homes. All this in addition to creation of many custom projects a part of Towne Center Kitchens design work.


GENERAL CONTRACTOR

CMS Industries 1979-1992

Focused on commercial tenant improvements and low rise commercial buildings. CMS Industries projects ranged from subterranean parking structures to historic office buildings throughout the San Gabriel Valley. Our clients were developers, architects, the public sector and business owners in Southern California.
